About the program:

The Immersion into the Yoga Tradition PYICPP at the Anne Arundel Community College is a comprehensive, in-depth exploration into the art and science of yoga.  The program’s components cover topics ranging from meditation, philosophy, Ayurveda, pranayama, anatomy and physiology, teaching methodology, posture labs, subtle energy and more.  Its intent is to give all students access to the richness and depth of the yoga teachings.  It is appropriate for all students, those seeking to deepen their own practice and expand their knowledge as well as those whose passion is guiding them to teach yoga.  Enrollment is limited to allow individualized instruction and enhance each participant’s experience.

All courses have been approved by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC).  Professional CEUs and a Certificate of Completion from Anne Arundel Community College may be awarded upon successful completion of all courses and course requirements.  Additionally, successful completion of each of the two program options (200-hour or 500-hour) qualifies graduates to apply for their national accreditation with the Yoga Alliance at that respective program level.

Amrit Method Yoga Nidra Facilitator Certification program (Level 1 and Advanced offered)

This certification is offered at AACC through the Amrit Yoga Institute.  CEUs are awarded for yoga teachers and may be awarded for massage therapists and professional counselors and therapists depending on their governing body.  Yoga Nidra is a powerful technique and an excellent tool for yoga teachers, meditation teachers, and others in the healing arts (western or eastern).  It provides a paradigm shift from thinking and doing to feeling and being. During sleep, we drop beneath mental and emotional activity. Yoga Nidra literally means "yogic sleep". In the meditative experience of Yoga Nidra, we transcend self-created perceptions and limitations. Sleep takes us below the mind, and meditation carries us beyond the mind.

Through a unique combination of alert awareness and profound relaxation, Yoga Nidra works by immersing the practitioner in the healing rhythms of the alpha state. Here, you simultaneously access the power of the logical left-brain and the intuitive right brain to align the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems back to homeostasis.

The Amrit Method of Yoga Nidra requires neither years of practice nor intellectual understanding. With focused attention and an abiding trust in the process, unconsciously held obstructions and energetic blockages are released, freeing you to actualize your intentions.
